Privacy Commitment: American Horror Files is built with an Offline-First & Zero-Tracking philosophy. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personally identifiable information, precise location data, or behavioral advertising identifiers.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

Our application operates entirely offline on your mobile device. Specifically:

No Personal Identifiers: We do not ask for or collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords.
No Advertising Identifiers: The Google Play Advertising ID (AD_ID) is explicitly disabled and blocked within our application manifest.
No Location Tracking: We do not access GPS, Wi-Fi, or cellular triangulation data.
No Biometric or Sensor Data: The in-app heartbeat tracker is an illustrative visual pacing effect calculated solely from your reading scroll progress; it does not access physical pulse or health sensors.
No Financial Data: The application does not collect payment or banking information.

2. Local Device Storage & Preferences

To deliver a personalized reading experience, the app stores configuration data directly on your device using Android's sandboxed local storage (SharedPreferences):

Story bookmarks, reading history, and unlocked achievements.
Display preferences: dark theme, font size, line spacing, and language preference (English, Arabic, Spanish, French).
Notification scheduling preferences.

This data remains strictly on your device and is never uploaded to any external server.

3. Permissions Used & Purpose

We only request the minimal permissions necessary for app operation, fully compliant with Google Play standards:

INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Allows the app to verify network availability and fetch voluntary story updates when online.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS: (Android 13+) Used exclusively to send local bedtime or midnight reading reminders that you opt into within the Settings menu.
VIBRATE: Used for optional tactile haptic feedback during interactive reading.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

American Horror Files is intended for audiences aged 13 and older due to horror, suspense, and true-crime storytelling themes. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe any such data has inadvertently been provided, please contact us and we will immediately take remedial action.

5. Third-Party Services & Analytics

The application contains NO third-party advertising networks, NO tracking SDKs, and NO behavioral analytics. Your reading habits are completely private to you.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it at all times. You can instantly erase all bookmarks, progress, and settings by going to your device's Settings > Apps > American Horror Files > Storage > Clear Data, or by uninstalling the application.

7. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated Effective Date.
